ANJC Announces 2013 Chiropractor of the Year- Dr. Donald C. DeFabio
The Association of New Jersey Chiropractors ANJC named Dr. Donald C. DeFabio of Berkeley Heights “2013 Chiropractor of the Year” at their annual fall symposium. This award is presented annually to a New Jersey Doctor of Chiropractic who exemplifies a superior level of service to his profession, community and patients.
The award was presented by Dr Joseph D’Angiolillo, ANJC President, who recognized Dr. DeFabio “As a collegue who is does it all: serves on the ANJC Board, teaches continuing education, participates in several ANJC committees, volunteers in his community, hosts a public access TV show and runs a full time practice. A real rennisance man!”
Dr. DeFabio is the owner of DeFabio Spine and Sports Rehab, LLC which has been located in Berkeley Heights since 1985. He earned his Chiropractic degree from New York Chiropractic College, his bachelor degree from Trinity College, and high school diploma from Newark Academy.
“To be recognized by my peers is a great honor, and frankly I was shocked” comments Dr. DeFabio, who received a standing ovation from his colleagues “It is with great humility that I accept this award.”
Professionally, Dr. DeFabio is dual board certified in Chiropractic Orthopedics and Sports Injury Management as well as a certified Corrective Exercise and Performance Enhancement Specialist. Dr. DeFabio holds additional certification in Manipulation under Anesthesia, Active release Technique, Graston Technique, and is a certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
He has extensive sports physician experience treating athletes from all sports especially runners, track and field, fencing and tri-athletes. In fact, he served as a chiropractic doctor at the Ironman Triathlon World Championships in Kona for nine years and with the USA Fencing. Currently he is the Chiropractic Physician for Drew University Athletics.
Internationally , Dr. DeFabio is medical coordinator for the United States Wheelchair Fencing Team as well as serving on the International Wheelchair Classification Committee.
At the community level he supports Our House, a local charity that provides housing and jobs for educationaly and defvelopmentally disabled adults, the Summit Area YMCA and the Boy Scouts.
Dr. DeFabio’s commitment to the public is evidenced by producing and hosting The Natural Way to Better Health and Wellness, a monthly public access TV show where Dr. DeFabio highlights cutting edge alternative therapies and natural heathcare options.
The ANJC represents approximately 82% fo all practicing doctors of chiropractic in New Jersey and through integrity, access and education, works to promote the highest level of quality Chiropractic Care to the general public and patients served. Furthermore, the ANNJC provides regulatory oversight before New Jersey Departments, including Health, Welfare, Workers’ Compensation, Auto and Medicare.
