What Is Laser Therapy?

Therapeutic laser is a regenerative modality that uses focused light for pain and irritated, inflamed tissue. It is non-invasive: the light is applied over the area being treated, with no needles and no downtime.

At DeFabio Chiropractic, laser is one of our regenerative therapies, alongside Winback TECAR and Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT). These therapies are combined with targeted nutrition and corrective exercise to reduce inflammation, support tissue repair and restore function without the risks or downtime of surgery.

How We Use It

We use laser when the exam says it fits, as part of an individualized, multi-modal treatment plan for you to feel better, get better and stay better. It is paired with the chiropractic care, movement or strength work needed for the bigger problem, so the cause is treated and not only the pain.

What to Expect

Exam First

Every plan starts with an accurate diagnosis. Dr. DeFabio examines the area and decides whether laser belongs in your care.

During a Visit

Laser is usually given in the same visit as your other care. Ask the team how it fits into your plan and how many visits to expect for your condition.

We use it for pain and for irritated, inflamed soft tissue, such as strained muscles, irritated tendons and sore joints, when the exam shows it fits your problem.

Is laser therapy used on its own?

Usually not. It is one part of an individualized, multi-modal plan, alongside chiropractic care and the movement or strength work needed for the bigger problem.

How do I know if laser is right for me?

Dr. DeFabio decides after your exam. If laser fits, it goes into your plan. If it does not, we tell you why and what we recommend instead.
